Sure this is a shameless plug, but I'm only human. I've had a personal project on the go for a while now, and unfortunately this post is not detailing it (but that one will be coming soon, it was approved ~3 weeks ago and launches in 2 weeks!), but every once in a while a pretty solid puzzle game comes along.
Anyway, while it kind of put a stressor on everything else going on, I took some time (or rather squeezed some in) to create this
guide for The Heist on the iPhone and iPod touch.
While it retails for $0.99, you guys can pick it up if you feel like supporting me in a round-a-bout way (although I do have a more general purpose app debuting in 2 weeks that you may rather spend your money on!), or ask in the forums for a free promo code. It's only worth it of course if you actually are stuck on a few of the levels, want to see how far I've come with iOS development, or just want to see the quality of an app that can be hammered out in a weekend (and how utterly stale most apps in the store will pale in comparison - of course I mean the 70-80% of the garbage, and not the real gems!).
Anyway, the promotional website for
The Heist Walkthrough can be found here, and optionally you can
grab The Heist Guide app here (warning: app hasn't yet been approved, so this link might not work yet). Hit the promotional website link for more details if you're interested (or, as always, post on
our forums!)

The critically-acclaimed L.A. Noire finally hits shelves, and if launch-day sales are any indicator of the quality we should be in for a solid game from Rockstar. Not much else to report, other than the sleeper Marvel Pinball FX 2, Naughty Bear Gold Edition, The First Templar, and Deathsmiles IIX.

First off - sorry to all the users of the app that are updating the ~21000 updates. This is mostly redundant updates, and was caused by a bug in the system.
One of our users was inputting a large collection of PS3 games with Future Shop trade in values on the forums, and overloaded
the tivs tag ([tivs][/tivs]).
The tivs tag works by parsing the input on the next page load - generally the redirect that happens after your post allows the system to take a look at what you posted, convert the games to updates, then filter the post so they don't get re-submitted. Due to the number of games in the post, the tivs tag was working - but because of security measures and browser timeouts, never got to finish, which meant the games never got parsed out of the post - subsequently, every person who viewed the page was causing the server to re-evaluate the post and insert the games
again.
Once again, we apologize for any inconvenience. We'll be launching a new version of the
Trade in Values iOS app shortly to address the default database for new users so they don't have to trudge through quite a long update time.
On the plus side, we did update a
large portion of the PS3 games (a little over 500 today!) at Future Shop (and, for all intents and purposes, Best Buy +/-$1), so that's good. Enjoy your Future Shop trade in values!

Sure it's a small victory - but a victory none-the-less. The
TIVS.ca iPhone app is currently the #1 featured app on the iTunes App Store for the 'Reference' category. People from all over Canada have been downloading the app pretty consistently (I thought the niche for this app was maybe 700-1000...1500 tops, and we're almost rounding the 10 000 download mark. Remember to keep
giving us positive reviews (if you haven't already!)
